Hi Nick
This is a Mediterranean-style diet that is an eating pattern characterized by eating local, seasonal and fresh foods, typical of the countries in the Mediterranean like Italy, Spain, and Greece. This eating pattern includes lots of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, fibre and nuts, with a moderate amount of fish and poultry and limited red meat products and processed foods. Aside from the food itself, this way of eating promotes enjoying food, eating a variety, eating together and home cooking.
It is known for being one of the healthiest eating patterns in the world and has been linked to prevention and management of diseases such as type 2 diabetes and heart health. It is a great eating pattern for overall health.
Our focus is to reduce processed foods so cornflakes are out for breakfast and a more nutritious option has been suggested to increase fibre and reduce sodium intake. Lunch also has less processed foods and more veggies.
You can eat everything exactly as it's listed or play around a little bit with it by changing snacks or having more veggies with your meals. If there's anything you don't like just let me know and I'm happy to change it for you.
