1/2 cup Rolled oats, dry (divided)
1/3 cup Oat flour (if you don't have, you can make it by blending 1 cup oats into a powder)
1 tbsp Chia seeds
2 2/3 tbsp Flaxseed meal (ground)
1/3 tbsp Flaxseed meal (ground)
1/3 tsp Cinnamon
1/3 tsp Baking powder
1 dash Salt
1/2 cup Almond milk, unsweetened (or other non dairy milk)
2 2/3 tbsp Maple syrup, pure (or other liquid sweetener)
2/3 tbsp Almond butter (or other nut or seed butter)
1/3 small Banana (s) (chopped)
1/3 tbsp Vanilla extract, pure


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8 inch square pan with two pieces of parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the dry ingredients: oat flour, 1.5 cups rolled oats, chia, flax, baking powder, salt, cinnamon.
  3. In a smaller bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: milk, syrup, nut/seed butter, banana, vanilla until no clumps remain. Add wet to dry and stir until combined. Optional: Fold in any nuts, dried fruit, or dark chocolate that you desire (See "Notes" below)
  4. Pour mixture into prepared pan and smooth out. Bake for 35-40 minutes until lightly golden along edge and it springs back slowly when touched. Cool before slicing.


Think of this oatmeal square as basic baked oatmeal that can be dressed up any way you like.


Feel free to add in nuts, dried fruit, chocolate, and other mix-ins as you desire. Just be careful about frozen berries (may be too soggy). Use fresh berries and you should be fine.
