1/2 cup | Butter, unsalted (softened) |
1 cup | Granulated sugar |
1 large | Egg |
1 tsp | Almond extract, McCormick |
1 cup | All-purpose white flour |
Preheat oven to 375F. Line an 8 or 9 inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
In a medium sized bowl, mix butter, sugar, egg, almond extract and flour together with a fork.
Transfer the mixture to the greased baking pan and press down until mixture is flat and even.
Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
Allow bars to cool slightly, pull the take bars out of pan and slice.
For nut lovers, you could add slivered almonds on the top of these bars prior to going into the oven. Simply add a layer of almonds and gently press them into the top of the bars.
To makes these bars more festive, you can add some sprinkles on the top of the bars prior to baking.
