1/3 cup All-purpose white flour
1 leaf Bay leaf
4 1/2 tbsp Butter, salted
1/2 tsp Nutmeg, ground
2 1/4 cup Partly skimmed milk, 2% M.F.


Heat the butter in a saucepan over low heat.

Add the flour and nutmeg and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Remove from the heat and gradually stir in the milk. Add bay leaf, return to the heat and simmer often, until the sauce thickens.

Season, cover with plastic wrap to prevent a skin from forming.
