908 gm Beef, ground, lean
1 cup White onion (chopped)
2 can(s) (15oz) Tomato sauce, canned
1 2/3 kg Green cabbage (chopped)
1 cup White rice, short-grain, dry (preferably brown rice)
1 tsp Salt
3 1/2 cup Beef broth (stock) (preferably low sodium)


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown beef in oil over medium high heat until redness is gone. Drain off fat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl combine the onion, tomato sauce, cabbage, rice and salt. Add meat and mix all together.
  4. Pour mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Pour broth over meat mixture and bake in the preheated oven, covered, for 1 hour.
  5. Stir, replace cover and bake for another 30 minutes.
