Homemade Sports Drink | Electro Replacement
Health Highlights
This recipe is intended to replace all the electrolytes lost during a workout or heavy sweating. Contains sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium

Ingredients

750 ml Water
1 whole lemon(s) Lemon juice
3 tbsp Maple syrup, pure (Must be pure Canadian Maple syrup)
1/4 tsp Himalayan sea salt
5 flower Hibiscus flower, dried

Instructions

In a tall pitcher, mix all ingredients and stir well, making sure maple syrup dissolves.

Let sit for 10 minutes for hibiscus to infuse.

Add ice and stir for another minute or store in the fridge.

Strain out the hibiscus leaves (or leave in for richer colour and flavour)

Pour into a sports drink and enjoy.

Drink after a workout or heavy sweating to replace your lost electrolytes!

Notes:

Replacing your electrolytes after sweating is very important for proper recovery and normal cellular function. Symptoms of electrolyte imbalance can range from headaches, muscle soreness, cramping and nerve twitching to much worse long-term issues like hypertension and anxiety.

Gatorade replaces your electrolytes but is also pumped full of hormone-disrupting synthetic dyes and brominated vegetable oil, which has been proven to be toxic!

It is very important to use 100% Canadian Maple Syrup for this recipe as it has a low sugar count and high amounts of these essential electrolytes needed for proper recovery after fluid loss.

Be wary of false maple syrup or Aunt Jemima style syrups that contain high fructose corn syrup and flavouring.

Using pink salt will also increase the amount of minerals as it contains 84 trace minerals and regular table salt only contain 2 (iodine and sodium).
