|1 cup||Lentils, raw (rinsed)|
|1/2 cup||Brown rice, medium-grain, dry (or another rice of choice)|
|1 1/2 tbsp||Sea salt|
|1 cup||Bread crumbs, plain|
|1/2 cup||Wheat germ, crude|
|1 large||Yellow onion (chopped)|
|1/2 tsp||Celery seed|
|1/4 tsp, ground||Thyme, dried|
|1/2 tsp||Black pepper|
|1 tbsp||Parsley, fresh (chopped)|
1. Combine lentils, rice, water and salt in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, lower heat, cover and simmer for 35-45 minutes, or until rice is tender.
2. Remove from heat, let stand 10 minutes and then mash together with any remaining liquid in pan.
3. Place in a large bowl with bread crumbs, wheat germ, onion , celery seed, marjoram, thyme, salt, pepper and parsley. Mix well and shape into patties.
4. Coat with wheat germ and fry in vegetable oil until golden brown on both sides.
