With a stand mixer or hand beaters, beat butter and sugar together until fluffy. Add the egg and beat more. Add maple syrup, vanilla and pumpkin puree then beat a bit longer.
Sift together dry ingredients. Add slowly to wet, combining as you go. Fold in chocolate chips.
Bake in a 350°F oven for 15 minutes. Let cool on a rack. Devour!
