Cream together butter and maple syrup with an electric mixer at high speed, until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Sift together dry ingredients. Combine milk and vanilla. Add 1/3 of dry mixture to egg mixture and combine. Then add 1/2 milk and combine then 1/3 dry. Alternate until all incorporated. Butter and flour a bundt pan or glass dish.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Spread batter in ban and bang pan a couple times to remove air bubbles. Bake 50 - 60 minutes, until a knife comes out clean. Cool completely.
Cut into squares and serve with berries or spread an icing over top. Throw cubes on a stick, if you desire. This cake is definitely sweet and not exactly nutrient-dense but so simple and delicious! A lovely treat.
