Rasam powder is an aromatic mix made of various lentils. It is commonly used to make think soups and can be sprinkled on vegetables or roasted vegetables

Ingredients


1 cup Coriander seed (cilantro)
1/4 cup Toor Dal (split pigeon)
1/4 cup Chana dal (or use chickpeas)
2 tsp Cumin (or Jeera)
1 tsp Black pepper
4 pepper(s) Red chili pepper (also chile or chilli) (dry)
1/2 tsp Fenugreek seeds ((1/4 to 1/2); or Methi or menthulu))

Instructions


  1. Warm up the cast iron skillet
  2. Lightly roast EACH ingredient separately until just warm to touch. Allow to cool
  3. Grind into a fine powder and store in a air tight glass jar

Advanced Preparation

1 - 8 days prior, Coriander seed (cilantro) 1 cup
Instructions:

Make the masala ahead of time and store in a air tight glass jar for future use
