I hope you had a chance to batch cook some of baby’s favourite purees last week so you’re ready in a pinch.
THREE things we'll add this week:
1. We are adding a second meal. I just want to note that the amounts are still going to be more then what your baby will eat. And at first your baby may not be into adding a second meal right away or just eat one or two spoonfuls. That's ok too. Just aim for consistency.
2. Another thing we’ll do this week, if you haven’t already started, is to add “water” to the mix. We don’t want water to replace breastmilk or formula, but it’s a good time to introduce between 1 to 2 oz max. While babies don’t need it per see, it is helpful to help them “wash down foods” or after periods where they “exercised” those little area and leg muscles. I’ve added it in the breakfast section, but really can be sipped through the day. It also does not have to be filtered water. You can also do chia water, chamomile tea, fennel tea to soothe tummy aches as well.
3. This week, are are also going to focus on adding more "fat" to the diet. When reheating your purees or finger foods in a sauce pan, add 2 tsp for each 2 oz of puree, enough to cot the bottom of the pan and mix it in.
Hi Loving Moms,
I'm a Baby and Kids Holistic Nutritionist and the Founder of Nourished Little Munchkins.
In my practice, I help moms introduce solids to their babies and give them tools to navigate the picky eating stage of toddlerhood.
I'm also a mom of two little toddler boys who are both learning to be adventurous eaters.
Growing up I was a very picky eater. If it didn’t look right, smell right, feel right it just was not going into my mouth. I later learned I was a supertaster, which basically means I have more tastebuds and taste everything (especially bitter) more intensely.
So trust me when I tell you that I KNOW what your little one is going through because I felt the exact same anxiety and pressure to eat they do. And as a mom, I know the pressure is ON to get those little monkey butts to eat!
If you are looking for a gentle, logical, and nourishing approach to introducing solids, Baby's First Bites is for you. Through this group program, I help moms introduce solids to their babies without the confusion, overwhelm or worry that they will "miss something".
If you are looking for a researched based system to expand the number of foods your young child eat, than From Picky To Eating is what you'll want to look at.

Let's make mealtimes fun again!
